Ayoub El Kaabi's header gives Morocco advantage in first leg
Match temporarily halted due to Lionel Mpasi's injury
The highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Morocco and DR Congo was briefly delayed on Friday due to an injury sustained by Congolese forward Lionel Mpasi.
The incident occurred early in the first half, as Mpasi collided with Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. Mpasi was left writhing in pain and was eventually stretchered off the field. The match was halted for several minutes as medical staff attended to the injured player.
Despite the setback, Morocco managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a stunning header from striker Ayoub El Kaabi. The goal came in the 35th minute, when El Kaabi rose above the Congolese defense to meet a cross from Sofiane Boufal.
The result gives Morocco a slight advantage heading into the second leg, which will be played in Kinshasa on Tuesday. However, the injury to Mpasi is a major blow for DR Congo, who will be without their star striker for the crucial match.
