Oklahoma Hit by Devastating Tornado Outbreak
18 Tornadoes Documented, 2 Fatalities Reported
Sulphur, Oklahoma Bears Brunt of Storm Damage
The city of Sulphur in Murray County suffered severe storm damage after a series of tornadoes tore through Oklahoma on Saturday night. Survey teams have identified 18 tornadoes from the April 19-20, 2023 outbreak, with widespread damage across the state.
As of 10 AM CDT on April 28th, the National Weather Service reported tornado damage in Cole, Shawnee, and other areas. Wednesday night also brought multiple tornadoes to Oklahoma, but their impact is still being evaluated.
Tragically, the tornadoes have claimed the lives of two individuals. In response to the widespread destruction, Governor OK has declared a state of emergency for 12 counties.
